Self-referrals are accepted to encourage individuals to take responsibility for their therapeutic journey by taking the first step and making initial contact with the service.
If the service has been recommended to you by another community organisation, individual or someone has contacted us on your behalf, we still need to have direct contact with you to book and confirm a consultation.
Upon making contact for therapy or supervision, you will be booked in for an initial assessment/consultation at the earliest mutually available date and time.
The initial consultation is an opportunity for me to get a brief overview of your therapeutic or clinical needs, and establish suitability to the service. You can also ask any further questions you might have about the service.
Therapy sessions are offered on the basis that you can commit to attending weekly on the same day at the same time. Flexibility is assessed on a case by case basis and is subject to availability.
Fees for therapy vary dependent on circumstance. Please email or use the contact us page for further information.
Supervision is offered fortnightly or monthly.
Sessions last 50-60 minutes and can be face-to-face, online or telephone where appropriate. Your consultation will usually be face-to-face.
Short term (8-24 sessions) or longer term (up to 2 years) Intercultural Counselling and Psychotherapy is offered.
Cancellations are free if you cancel at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
Cancellations are chargeable at the full rate if cancelled within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment.
All payments are accepted via BACS/Bank Transfer payable weekly or in blocks of 4.
How does therapy work?
Talking to a therapist can help you understand your feelings, thought patterns and behaviours. This leads to a better understanding of self and enables a process of healing.
How do I know how much time I will need?
Everyone has different needs and heals at different rates. During the consultation your needs will be assessed and you will receive a recommendation. Regular reviews will take place during your therapy and less or more time will be agreed accordingly.
What if I change my mind?
If you change your mind at any point, please communicate any concerns so that adjustments to your therapy or further recommendations can be given to you. I value your feedback and will do my best to work with you on your journey. I also understand that having the right type of therapy and timing is very important; sometimes despite all good intentions, it's just not the right time or the right fit.
