We are a trauma informed Private Intercultural Psychotherapy, Supervision and Training centre, based in the London Borough of Lewisham. We provide placement opportunities for counselling students as well as volunteer opportunities for those that want to support us give back to the community. We provide services throughout the UK with a focus on marginalised, minoritized and racialised groups.
At Mabadiliko therapy we are dedicated to offering a culture sensitive, trauma informed approach to talking therapy, for individuals aged 18 and over.
We are a community focused organisation and operate within a not for profit framework.
We acknowledge that traditional and widespread approaches to talking therapy or psychological therapies are often taught and delivered from a Euro-centric perspective; this approach can sometimes fail to meet the needs of people from Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) groups or People of Colour (PoC), as cultural sensitivity and true empathetic understanding is limited.
Our Intercultural trauma informed psychotherapy approach is tailored to each individual, which makes it a unique and subjective experience.
Cultural identity, ethnicity, racial trauma, faith and spirituality are some of the key aspects of consideration that we integrate into the therapy process to support with your mental health and well-being needs.
What's on offer?
Our mission is to provide the community with a Trauma informed, culturally sensitive counselling psychotherapy service that holds a worldview and considers culture, ethnicity, race and spirituality as fundamental aspects for all users of the service.
(The Four Pillars of Mabadiliko Therapy)
Mabadiliko Therapy holds the belief that heritage, ancestral origins and cultural influences play a significant role in the make-up of who you are, and influences mental health experiences. Our Intercultural Counselling Psychotherapy approach enables holistic therapy that truly holds the ‘person’ at the ‘center’ of their therapy. You can view more about our service by CLICKING HERE
The therapeutic process is a collaborative one, 'you get out what you put in'. We work with you to identify the elements that might be holding you back, and establish a set of tools for your 'tool bag' to support your journey during and after therapy.
Mabadiliko Therapy is not a free service but aims to accommodate the needs of the community with affordable fees. We operate a sliding scale, fees are assessed on a case by case basis.

Our approach is an integration of humility & spirituality principles & philosophy with psychological understanding and application. We integrate various psychological theories and approaches and have a focus on working with the effects of childhood, generational, racial and sexual trauma.
The Four Pillars of Mabadiliko Intercultural Therapy (Culture, Ethnicity, Race & Spirituality) form the framework to our approach. We also apply our 5 stages to healing model throughout the therapeutic process.
Mabadiliko Therapy's Five Stages to Healing Model is labelled in Swahili, to exemplify the value we place on ancestral roots. The stages can be demonstrated in any chosen language and illustrates the process of change and healing by renewing the mind.
Along the journey of therapy we acknowledge your Roots and aim to identify the root cause of the problem, recognise the impact this has on your Mind, reflect and Process conscious awareness, in order to Renew thought patterns, which ultimately results in Change.
